I saw the fiery furnaces again a few weeks ago, actually like a month ago, this time in brooklyn at the southpaw. Their set, and the crowd, and the dancing was much better than when they opened for super furry animals 9:30. The Southpaw is about the size of the black cat, it’s a really neat space. They have a photo booth and a really nice downstairs where you can …chill…

See the fiery furnaces please! It will cure any medical mental made up ailment you might have. They’re so great live. Fun weird silly fact: Eleanor was wearing an APC shirt I almost tried on like five hours before the show.

When I was in new york I went to the latest Ryan McGinley show , I Know Where the Summer Goes, at TEAM gallery. The show featured photographs from his last annual roadtrip, where he shot 4,000 roles or something? That’s over 100,000 photographs. Out of those he meticulously narrowed them down to fifty, which were at TEAM from April 3rd to May 3rd. I’m obviously running a little behind, ha!

(this one’s on the cover of this month’s VICE)

The photographs are very beautiful. The thing I love about Ryan’s work is that although the majority of it is staged; the photos look incredibly candid. They are always exciting and draw you in.
There were three portraits in the lower level of the gallery which really showcased some of the amazing things Ryan can do with light and color. He really is turning out to be one of the greatest photographers of our generation.

AND MY FAVORITE:

kids and their bikes, what could be more beautiful?
It was one of the highlights of my last trip. I can’t describe how thrilling it was to see his images right in front of me.

We all loved Morgan Hungerford’s DC street style photos at pandahead, but I know you’ll love this even more. She’s put together a quarterly online magazine, pandahead mag! It’s beautiful, and really inspiring. The Multi V’s are featured in the first issue, along with an adorable piece on Au Revoir Simone and some beautiful photo spreads!!!! The magazine looks incredible, and it’s laid out like a fairy tale. I love it, congratulations to Morgan and all of the magazine’s contributors, it’s going to be a huge success!!!!!!!!!

I can’t even remember when after hours at the hirshhorn was, but Lucky Dragons and Hooliganship performed!!!!! Lucky dragons was honestly one of the most beautiful things I have seen. Their music is created by human contact, so it is basically all about collaboration and diy. It was amazing. And inspiring. How fun is it to have the audience make the music and to facilitate that yourself? I don’t know how it really works technically, but there is a reason why Luke Fishbeck was included in the 2008 whitney biennial.

make baby doc:
After lucky dragons was the Hooliganship performance. I you have ever seen the multi v’s, think the male version of us with equally rad costumes! haha i really enjoyed them. They are a multi media experience. I’m not sure what else to say. Check out their website: http://www.hooliganship.com/index.html

(they said their projection was 3D, it was not, this is why i like them)
